Lancaster County, PA, May 19, 2017 – Saxton & Stump’s Richard K. Hammer, MD and Attorney James W. Saxton were invited speakers at the Physician Insurers Association of America (PIAA) Medical Liability Conference held in Colorado Springs, CO on May 18, 2017.
During their presentation, Leveraging Data to Change the Risk Management Game, they discussed the importance of understanding how empowering physicians with their own data could serve as one of the fundamental elements necessary for success, and when utilized in a very specific way, data can provide a gateway to professional liability risk.
The PIAA Medical Liability Conference brings together hundreds of professionals who work in insurance and alternative risk transfer, all looking to gain new insights on the global and day-to-day issues facing medical, hospital, and dental liability companies, risk retention groups, captives, trusts, and other entities.
Dr. Hammer is a board certified physician with more than 20 years of experience in health care delivery and the business of medicine. He has experience creating and implementing practical solutions for health plans, employers groups, integrated medical systems, private physician groups and insurers. He served as Vice President of Clinical Market Development for Capital BlueCross where he developed and led a market facing team of physician medical directors focused on accountable care, physician engagement, health plan customers and broker/consultant relations.
Mr. Saxton has sustained an active litigation practice for more than 30 years, representing doctors, hospitals and other health care professionals in state and federal court and administrative proceedings. He lectures frequently and is an invited speaker across the country on health care issues, including liability reduction and risk management. He presents to nationally prominent health care organizations such as the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Society for Health Care Risk Management and the Physician Insurers Association of America.
