Yuan Han is senior counsel in the Saxton & Stump Intellectual Property Group and the Business Litigation and Strategic Solutions Group, bringing a rare combination of scientific innovation and strategic business insight to clients navigating complex IP matters. A patent attorney since 2009, Yuan focuses on drafting, prosecuting, and managing sophisticated patent portfolios across highly technical industries, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, polymers, semiconductors, medical devices, and mechanical technologies. His extensive technical background positions him as a trusted advisor for companies seeking to protect innovation, increase market position, and maximize the value of their intellectual assets.

In addition to private practice, Yuan has served as in-house intellectual property counsel with responsibility for advanced materials, manufacturing technologies, and emissions control businesses, where he advised research and development executives and senior business leaders on IP strategy, competitive risk, portfolio development, and commercialization opportunities. He also provides strategic counsel and training in patent protection, trade secret management, and competitive intelligence.

From 2011 to 2019, Yuan operated his own boutique intellectual property firm, advising clients on patent procurement, portfolio management, patent enforcement, and intellectual property strategy. Yuan obtained a Ph.D. from Princeton University in organic chemistry. Before entering the legal profession, Yuan spent 10 years as a research chemist in the Philadelphia region, developing new catalysts and new chemical processes. He is an inventor or co-inventor of more than 20 patents, giving him unique insight into the technical and business challenges clients face. Yuan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, which allows him to provide training in U.S. patent law and strategic IP counseling to law firms and technology companies throughout China.
