Bijan Ghom is a business litigator based in the firm’s Charleston office who represents local and national companies in complex commercial disputes. He counsels business owners, executives, and decision-makers to resolve high-stakes matters involving contracts, fraud, unfair and deceptive trade practices, stolen intellectual property, and other business torts. Bijan frequently litigates partnership and shareholder disputes, including claims involving oppression, financial mismanagement, misconduct, buy-outs, and business valuations, with a focus on protecting his clients’ financial and operational interests while positioning them for long-term success.

In addition to his commercial practice, Bijan represents fiduciaries, beneficiaries, heirs, and estate representatives in trusts and estates litigation. He helps clients navigate sensitive disputes involving will contests, undue influence and coercion, capacity challenges, and breaches of fiduciary duty, delivering practical strategies designed to resolve conflicts efficiently while preserving family and financial legacies.

A former business owner with an M.B.A., Bijan brings real-world commercial insight to every matter. He draws on his experience founding and selling multiple businesses to help clients approach litigation and intellectual property issues through a strategic business lens. As a strategist with Palq IP, a Saxton & Stump affiliate IP consulting firm, he advises clients on protecting, monetizing, and maximizing the value of their intellectual property assets.

Before practicing law, Bijan launched and scaled several technology-driven ventures, including a SaaS (software as a service) development company, a patented fantasy sports investing application, and a cryptocurrency platform. This entrepreneurial background enables him to guide companies at every stage of growth – from startup through exit – while helping clients negotiate and structure agreements involving corporate governance, executive compensation, non-competes, intellectual property, and other critical business issues. His hands-on business experience informs his litigation strategy, particularly in partnership disputes and buy-out negotiations where commercial realities drive outcomes.

Bijan has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America® as one of South Carolina’s “Ones to Watch” in Commercial Litigation every year since 2021 and has also been named to the publication’s “Ones to Watch” list in Corporate Law. He has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service, every year since 2022.

Prior to joining the firm, Bijan practiced at a well-established South Carolina law firm. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, his J.D. from the Charleston School of Law, and his M.B.A. from the College of Charleston.

By far, the best lawyers for family and commercial law. Highly professional, experienced, and effective, this entire firm works well together, leveraging its massive wealth of knowledge and resources as a national firm, with highly compassionate, caring, and deeply knowledgeable service. I would recommend the exceptional lawyers here to any and everyone in Charleston who wants to work with the very best.” -Josh L.
