Attorney Steve Bowers joins Saxton & Stump’s growing ERISA practice
“As businesses across the U.S. are launching their post-pandemic recruiting strategies, structuring benefits packages is a crucial tool allowing them to attract and retain top talent,” said CEO James W. Saxton. “While regulatory agencies such as the IRS are increasing enforcement, Steve joins us at a time when maintaining compliance is a critical focus for our clients. His experience in this complex area of law adds even more depth to our robust team.”
Saxton & Stump’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation team collectively brings nearly 50 years of experience advising clients across all industries. They provide guidance to for-profit and non-profit organizations with respect to compliance with complex employee benefits regulations including the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The team assists with the design and documentation of executive compensation arrangements including severance agreements and structuring employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). They also advise clients on employee benefits issues that arise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other types of corporate transactions.
Bowers most recently practiced at White and Williams LLP and Cozen O’Connor in Philadelphia. Before entering private practice, Bowers was an investigator for the Employee Benefits Security Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor where he assisted with civil and criminal investigations of single or multi-employer plans and service providers. Bowers earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Scranton.
