Short-term rentals can be an attractive opportunity for property owners looking to earn money, but owners should be aware of the governing laws and regulations that are still attempting to catch up with the trend. In the spring 2020 issue of the Building Industry Association’s (BIA) Lancaster Builder, Erik Hume, Chair of Saxton and Stump’s Real Estate group, explains four frequently asked legal questions every Pennsylvania homeowner should consider before listing their short-term rental on the market. Likewise, those in the homebuilding industry, such as builders and contractors, should also be informed of what is legally required before providing guidance to clients. Erik cautions owners that just because your neighbor is doing it, doesn’t mean you should too!
