Attorney Bruce Wolstoncroft speaks about intellectual property management on Warehaus Speaker Series
Bruce Wolstoncroft recently sat down for a Q&A podcast for the Warehaus Speaker Series on June 19 to kick off season two of the series. In the episode titled “Intellectual Property Management,” Bruce discussed how IP impacts the success of architecture, engineering and construction companies. The speaker series, which is a knowledge-sharing initiative created by Warehaus, an architecture and design firm based in York, PA, provides dynamic discussions on industry insights by professionals from our region.
Every company has IP, regardless of their size and industry, which is important to protect when entering into project agreements. Whether it’s purchasing, developing or modifying a product or service, issues can arise in any agreement placing further pressure on the questions; who owns it, how can parties use it going forward and who has the rights to it after the agreement is complete?
In the episode, Bruce explored specific examples of how IP impacts businesses and the potential consequences of not paying attention to IP assets. He discussed what rights clients may have after the purchase of IP and items to look for when drawing up IP contracts. He also talked about IP considerations on employment matters and how to handle departing employees, especially those joining a competitor.
Bruce is an experienced intellectual property attorney with over 30 years and is the Chair of Saxton & Stump’s Intellectual Property Group. He focuses his practice on all aspects of IP and helps clients to develop and implement business-focused intellectual property strategies.
