Saxton & Stump Medical Consultants Contribute Chapter to Obstetrics and Gynecology of North America

Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America

Two of Saxton & Stump’s Senior Media Consultants, Dr. Richard N. Waldman and Stephanie K. Sargent, MHA, RN, LSSBB, CPPS, contributed the chapter “The Patient Experience and Safety” to Volume 46, Issue 2 of “Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America.”

“Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America” is published four times per year. Each issue focuses on a single topic in obstetrics and gynecology. The June 2019 issue highlights patient safety.

Sargent and Dr. Waldman’s chapter addresses the impact of the patient experience on patient safety and trends that impact patient engagement. Early in his career, Dr. Waldman experienced the medical community’s strong opposition to consumer-driven efforts to take more control of the patient experience. Over the following decades, persistent efforts led by patients, thought-leader physicians and agencies created the foundation of patient-centered care. Sargent and Dr. Waldman suggest that the future of patient experience will be grounded in consumerism, transparency and convenience.

Dr. Richard N. Waldman

Dr. Waldman has practiced OB-GYN care for over four decades. He is President of Associates for Women’s Medicine, a private OB-GYN specialty practice in the Syracuse area. Dr. Waldman has spent his career advocating for improvements in women’s health and welfare. He established the first hospital-based midwifery practice, served as President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Central New York Obstetrics and Gynecology Society and was a member of the board of the National Perinatal Association.

Stephanie K. Sargent, MHA, RN, CPPS
