CARLISLE, Pa., September 27, 2024 — Saxton & Stump shareholder attorney Mark E. Cedrone announced Friday that the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas has returned a judgment of acquittal verdict for his client, homebuilder Timothy Hoffman of Carlisle, Pa.
Hoffman is the owner and president of Hoffman Custom Contracting based in Dickinson Township. In 2022, the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office charged him with seven counts of felony theft concerning the construction of five separate homes in the Carlisle area. The acquittal erases all charges against him.
Cedrone said the case never should have gone to trial, as Hoffman had intended to build the homes all along, and the court agreed with him through Friday’s judgment.
“Tim is one of the primary home builders in the Carlisle area and he’s really been set back by the negative publicity when the government shouldn’t even have brought these charges against him. It was clear that he was wrongfully charged,” Cedrone said.
Cedrone tried the case this month with the help of local counsel Katie Maxwell of Katie Maxwell Law in Carlisle.
