PHILADELPHIA, October 3, 2022— Saxton & Stump is pleased to announce the hire of Philadelphia-area lawyer M. Kelly Tillery, a nationally recognized litigator who has more than 40 years of experience protecting his client’s business rights and intellectual property. Throughout his career, he has tried many IP and business cases in the state and federal courts of over 40 states and has been recognized by prominent lawyer rating services such as Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, and most recently as the “2023 Lawyer of the Year” in Litigation – Intellectual Property for the Philadelphia area by Best Lawyers in America. Tillery will be based in the firm’s Philadelphia office representing clients as one of the firm’s foremost intellectual property and business litigators.

Tillery has dedicated his career to protecting business trademarks, copyrights, patents and trade secrets around the world. Specifically, he has secured hundreds injunctions and seizure orders to protect the intellectual property rights of individuals and businesses. He has also handled matters involving domain names, names and likenesses and proprietary or confidential information. He has served clients from industries such as entertainment, software and technology and manufacturers. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College (High Honors) and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Tillery is a frequent speaker and author teaching other lawyer the intricacies of intellectual property litigation and protection. He is also a Lincoln scholar who often writes and speaks about the life and career of the Great Emancipator.
Saxton & Stump now has a significant number of attorneys equipped to offer IP services. Recently senior counsel John Goldschmidt Jr. and associate Bianca Basilone joined Saxton & Stump and the Intellectual Property group. Earlier this year, the group added patent attorney Andrew Mead as well as attorneys Tom Kent, Amanda Dempsey and Jarina Duffy. The team is led by attorney Andrew Oltmans, a patent attorney and former patent examiner, and they provide a wide range of IP strategy services that help business protect and grow their Intellectual Property portfolios. Tillery brings a focus on a range of business litigation matters and he will help clients pursue and protect their rights and interests when legal action is necessary.
