LANCASTER, Pa., March 14, 2019 – Saxton & Stump, is pleased to announce that Saxton & Stump attorneys Stephen J. Fleury and Richard L. Hackman will present on “Harassment in the Workplace and Conducting Internal Investigations” during the Pennsylvania Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)’s 2019 Healthcare Leaders Summit.
This year’s summit will be held April 10 – 12 at the Sheraton Hotel in King of Prussia, PA. The conference is held annually and is designed to help healthcare professionals advance their leadership skills through lectures from industry experts, networking and exchanging best practices with colleagues across Pennsylvania.
With the recent focus on the “#metoo” movement, the spotlight on workplace discrimination and harassment issues has gotten brighter. Steve and Rick will speak about why medical practices need to be vigilant in minimizing liability and protecting their employees from all forms of unlawful harassment. This presentation will provide a brief background on the legal issues involved, the measures practices can take to eliminate unlawful harassment and discrimination and the framework for conducting a harassment investigation.
Rick is the Chair of Saxton & Stump’s Labor and Employment Group. In his practice, he advises clients on issues related to compliance with federal, state and local employment laws. Rick also counsels employers on minimizing risk during both the discipline and termination process, with a focus on being proactive versus reactive. A substantial portion of his practice is dedicated to the review and revision of various employment documents and policies, including employment agreements, handbooks and non-competition agreements.
As a member of the Labor and Employment Group, Steve represents employers and insurers in state and federal courts with claims pertaining to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Steve has also represented clients before the Department of Labor and Industry in matters involving workers’ compensation and unemployment benefits.
