Saxton & Stump receives defense verdict for local hospital

We successfully defended a local hospital which was accused of corporate negligence for alleged inadequate policies in a case involving the treatment of a 410 pound patient for a posterior knee dislocation resulting in a below the knee amputation. Our vascular surgery and hospital administration experts testified that the community hospital appropriately and timely transferred the bariatric patient to a tertiary care center after reducing the dislocated knee when a complex vascular surgery was indicated.  Additionally, our causation expert testified that the patient was likely to lose her leg regardless of the timing of the transfer due to the severity of the injury to her vascular system. After 40 minutes of deliberations, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our hospital finding no negligence.
