Saxton, Morris named to prominent CPBJ industry list

LANCASTER, Pa., June 10, 2022 — Saxton & Stump is proud to announce that two of its attorneys – James W. Saxton and Carson B. Morris – have been named to the Central Penn Business Journal’s “Power 30” list for law and lobbyists. Those on the list, chosen by CPBJ staff, are considered some of the region’s most influential and accomplished people in their profession. This is the second time CPBJ has released this list, and Saxton and Morris have made both lists.

Saxton is the CEO at Saxton & Stump, the chair of the firm’s Healthcare Litigation and Mitigation Group and he has been practicing in central Pennsylvania for more than 30 years. In addition to being named to the Power 30 list for law and lobbyists, Saxton also has been named to the CPBJ’s annual Power 100 list for all professionals in central Pennsylvania. He has been named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list from 2012 to 2022 and has been named to the “Best Lawyers in America” list from 2016 to 2022. In 2014, the Lancaster General Health Foundation awarded him with its “Excellence in Philanthropy Award, and the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals named Saxton its “Philanthropist of the Year” award in 2013. He is a former president of the Lancaster YMCA Board of Directors and was the founding board member of the Lancaster Community Health Plan.

Morris is the chair of the Saxton & Stump White Collar Defense Group. Prior to joining the firm, Morris served as a deputy attorney general in the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General in the Appeals and Legal Services Section, focusing on grand jury litigation and working the office’s most significant investigations through the grand jury process. Morris is a University of Kentucky College of Law graduate and is a former appellate attorney at prominent firms in the Philadelphia area.

Saxton & Stump’s strategic growth outlook

The firm was named the fastest growing law firm in Pennsylvania by The Legal Intelligencer, having added 53 professionals in 2021, including 22 attorneys. Overall, Saxton & Stump has grown to a team of more than 150 professionals, including 78 attorneys. The firm has added new services and established groups dedicated to white collar defense and environmental, workplace safety and utilities. In addition to bolstering their infrastructure, they have also grown key existing practice areas such as healthcare, senior care, real estate, government affairs and trusts and estates.

The firm continues to grow based on their strategic plan for 2022 and will continue to expand its current team of lawyers and professionals, focusing on bringing additional resources to support client needs.
