Saxton & Stump promotes two attorneys to equity shareholder

LANCASTER, Pa., December 21, 2023 Saxton & Stump is pleased to announce it has elevated two attorneys to equity shareholder at the firm. Lane E. Brody and Kenneth J. McDermott were both promoted from senior counsel attorneys to shareholders. Brody is a member of the Trucking and Commercial Transportation Group, as well as the Commercial Litigation Group. McDermott is the chair of the firm’s Liquor Licensing and Alcohol Group and is also a member of the firm’s Hospitality, Commercial Litigation, and Business, Corporate and Tax groups. They practice out of the firm’s Crums Mill, Harrisburg office.

“Both Lane and Ken have worked tremendously hard, proven themselves in both of their work product and client services skills, and they are incredible assets to the firm and their clients,” Saxton & Stump CEO James W. Saxton said. “We look forward to welcoming them as equity shareholders as the firm continues to grow.”  

For nearly two decades, Brody has focused his practice on the defense of commercial motor vehicles and their insurers as well as a variety of clients in civil litigation matters. From 2014 to 2020, the attorney recognition organization Super Lawyers named Brody to its Pennsylvania “Rising Stars” list. He is the president of the board of directors of the South-Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and is a volunteer for Wills for Heroes, an organization that helps draft wills for active military personnel. Brody received his law degree from the Widener University School of Law.

McDermott represents beverage retailers, distributors, restaurants, hotels, bars, private clubs, music and entertainment venues, breweries, wineries, distilleries, and other liquor licensees on all aspects of liquor licensing and alcohol law. He is on the board of directors at the Crime Stoppers of Dauphin County and the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association – Central Chapter. He is also an associate member of the Brewers of Pennsylvania. McDermott received his law degree from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law.
