Saxton & Stump Secures Defense Verdict for Internist in Wrongful Death Case of Alleged Failure to Diagnose and Treat a Pulmonary Embolism

Saxton & Stump secured a defense verdict for an internal medicine physician and his practice in a case involving the death of a middle-aged patient. Plaintiff claimed that the internist failed to diagnose and treat a suspected pulmonary embolism on two separate office visits and missed the significance of findings on chest x-rays to prevent the patient’s death.

Through strong expert support on liability and causation and our client’s testimony, we showed that the internist’s care was appropriate and that the claimed cause of death was speculative. We obtained a defense verdict of no negligence at arbitration.
