Saxton & Stump shareholder Cherie Blackburn named to “Employment Law Power List”

CHARLESTON, S.C., April 15, 2026 South Carolina Lawyers Weekly has named Saxton & Stump shareholder Cherie W. Blackburn to its 2026 “Employment Law Power List,” recognizing her decades of leadership helping employers and human resources professionals navigate complex workplace laws and compliance challenges.

Those named to the list are leaders in their field and well-versed in relevant case law, statutes, and regulations. They have a record of success in cases and transactions and are a leader in the community with a record of bar involvement and leadership.

With more than 35 years of experience, Blackburn advises employers on the full spectrum of labor and employment matters. She represents businesses in litigation and works proactively with clients to reduce risk through workplace training, policy and handbook development, wage-and-hour compliance guidance, and the drafting of employment agreements and restrictive covenants. Her work helps organizations operate confidently while steering them through the evolving regulatory landscape.

Blackburn is ranked by the prestigious attorney recognition organization Chambers USA for labor and employment law, has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® since 2005 in five distinct practice areas, and has been named “Lawyer of the Year” multiple times in the Charleston area. She has also been listed in South Carolina Super Lawyers since 2008 and holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. 

An experienced speaker and published author, Blackburn has held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the Charleston County Bar Association Executive Committee, the South Carolina Bar Association Employment and Labor Law Section, and the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. 

Blackburn earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, her B.A. from Emory University, and an associate’s degree from Oxford College. In 2013, her law school alma mater awarded her the Compleat Lawyer Gold Award, which honors alumni who demonstrate outstanding professional competence and ethics.
