PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 21, 2023 — Saxton & Stump is pleased to announce the addition of attorney Joel L. Schwartz to the firm’s Philadelphia office. Schwartz brings with him more than 20 years of experience in business and tax law during which he built a strong transactional and litigation practice, assisting businesses and individuals in complex tax matters. He is a member of the firm’s Business, Corporate and Tax and Franchising, Licensing and Distribution teams. Schwartz also is part of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Group and the newly formed Family Law Group. He’ll work out of the firm’s Philadelphia location – which is soon moving into an expanded space. He will still work out of the firm’s Linwood, N.J., office, as well.
“Joel’s business and tax acumen will be an important resource as we continue to add talent to serve our clients,” Saxton & Stump CEO James W. Saxton said. “We are also pleased to continue executing our strategic plan to expand our presence in our downtown Philadelphia office.”
Schwartz’s practice includes helping clients with business formation and structuring including tax-free reorganizations, foreign business ventures, assets sales, stock sales, and debt and equity financing. He also assists businesses and individuals with complex tax matters, estate planning, bankruptcy and real estate issues. Schwartz earned his law degree at the Seton Hall University School of Law and has an LL.M. in taxation from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. He is admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
More tax experience for handling simple and complex matters
Schwartz, with his experience in tax planning, adds to the firm’s team of lawyers able to handle simple and complex tax-related issues at any stage from the earliest considerations of business formation, through expansion into the U.S., franchising, mergers, acquisitions and other transactions, and can defend clients in unfortunate event of governmental enforcement actions. The firm’s Business, Corporate and Tax team, led by Chair Katherine Pandelidis Granbois, routinely helps clients navigate the full range of legal needs for businesses, including mergers and acquisitions. Schwartz will also assist clients in the Franchising, Licensing and Distribution team led by Thomas J. Kent, Jr. and Amanda D. Dempsey. Mark E. Cedrone, who is co-chair of the Investigations and Criminal Defense Group, also has defended numerous clients in complex, high-profile tax and financial matters.
