Dr. Ann Forster Page is a medical consultant with over two decades of experience in maternal health, midwifery education, and clinical leadership. She is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, certified nurse-midwife, and advanced practice registered nurse. Dr. Forster Page has served as the director of the Certified Nurse-Midwife Service at the University of Minnesota Physicians since 2005 and as the nurse-midwife director at the University of Minnesota Medical Center since 2010. In both positions, she leads efforts in quality and safety, clinical strategy, team development, and interprofessional collaboration.
Among her teaching roles, she has been an adjunct clinical associate professor at both the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Forster Page has served as the Region V Representative for the board of directors for the American College of Nurse-Midwives and was a pivotal member of the steering committee of the organization’s “Healthy Birth Initiative: Reducing Primary Cesareans Project.”
She is a prolific and sought-after speaker and presenter at national and international conferences on educational programs on topics such as midwifery, obesity in pregnancy, patient safety, female genital mutilation, and more.
Her numerous honors include the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award from the ACNM, the 2020 March of Dimes Minnesota Distinguished Nurse of the Year, and induction as a fellow of the ACNM in 2017.
Dr. Forster Page earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2017 from the University of Minnesota. She also completed her Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery in 2001 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Minnesota, both cum laude. She began her nursing career after earning her Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of Vermont in 1995.
