Emily is a member of the Saxton & Stump Family Law and Commercial Litigation groups. She assists clients on all matters of family law, including divorce, child custody, parental alienation, grandparent visitation, child support, asset division, alimony and other matters. Prior to joining Saxton & Stump, Emily has worked on mass tort litigation at a nationally recognized plaintiff’s firm, as well as a local family law attorney in and around Charleston. In law school, Emily was a member of the Moot Court Board of Directors, an academic success mentor for younger law students, a presidential honors scholar and a student member of the Charleston chapter of the American Inns of Court, an elite group of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals. She graduated from the Charleston School of Law magna cum laude and in the top 5% of her graduating class.
Before her law career, Emily received her undergraduate business degree and M.B.A. at the University of Charleston in her home state of West Virginia. She then went on to lead the administration as project director of a multi-million-dollar workforce development grant backed by the U.S. Department of Labor. She worked with state and local government agencies, as well as community colleges and local businesses, to retrain and place dislocated workers into new, high-paying jobs in West Virginia’s in-demand sectors.
