Jason is a shareholder in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, bringing with him more than 15 years of experience working as a patent attorney and business consultant. He works with clients to create strategies to develop enterprise value through intellectual property, product development, technology licensing and corporate transactions. Since 2015, he’s worked in private practice as an attorney and consultant in new product development and with corporate venture capital groups. He has helped innovators developing new products and assisted corporate venture capital groups in securing new or existing product lines. Additionally, during this time, he earned his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business where he enhanced his skills in private equity/venture capital finance and due diligence.
He also served as a due diligence advisor and as the head of due diligence at an investment firm in the Pittsburgh area that funded investment rounds for early-stage companies in western Pennsylvania. In his three years there, he worked on investments into startup companies that have gone on to receive more than $100 million in future investments. Jason also has experience in academic technology transfer, working with startups and established companies that work with academic institutions on business and legal issues related to technologies emerging from research labs and sponsored research.
Early in his career after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, he clerked for the Court of Common Pleas for Lehigh County, and worked at firms in the Washington, D.C., metro area as a patent attorney prosecuting worldwide utility and design patent applications for major technology companies, financial institutions, auto makers and communications companies.
Jason also has led or been part of public presentations on early-stage valuation for companies, leveraging IP to drive business value, modern IP strategy, IP management for entrepreneurs and IP for artists.
