Michele Wherley is Saxton & Stump’s human resources manager for benefits, working out of the firm’s Lancaster office. She leads the administration and communication of the firm’s employee benefits programs, ensuring team members have clear guidance, responsive service, and access to competitive offerings that support their professional and personal well-being. Her responsibilities include oversight of health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401(k), HSA/FSA, wellness initiatives, leave programs, and other offerings. Michele also provides backup support in employee relations matters and extends her benefits expertise to the firm’s affiliate HR consulting company, Trew HR, helping deliver high-quality support to external clients.
With a career spanning higher education, financial services, and workforce development, Michele brings a broad, business-minded perspective to human resources. As the former human resources and administration manager for the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, she oversaw recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and HR best practices – aligning people strategies with institutional goals. Earlier, as human resources and training manager for First Capital Federal Credit Union, she managed the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to policy development, coaching, and retirement plan administration. She also spent more than a decade in recruitment and admissions roles at Harrisburg Area Community College’s Lancaster and York campuses.
In her community, Michele is a member of the board of directors of YWCA Lancaster, and a former volunteer for the United Way of York County and the York County Alliance for Learning.
Michele earned both an associate’s degree in medical assisting and a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications from Central Penn College.
