Steven is an experienced intellectual property attorney who moved his successful, Lancaster-based solo law practice to Saxton & Stump in 2023. He has been working in patent and trademark law for more than 20 years, obtaining numerous patents and trademarks for his clients. He approaches his clients’ legal challenges from a personal perspective of an entrepreneur as the former owner, founder and only attorney at the former Law Office of Steven O’Donnell, Ph.D. Using his former company’s “Create. Consult. Control.” mantra, Steve helps businesses realize the value of their intellectual property and to protect it for the success of their company. He’s secured patents for inventions as diverse as T-ball equipment for children, a bottle opener, a hydraulic stake puller, a continually operable separation centrifuge, a microbiological wastewater treatment device and the chemical synthesis of a plant growth regulator.

In addition to the patents he has already helped his clients secure, he has dozens pending in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and also has a large portfolio of trademark registrations and applications under his management. Before he started his solo legal practice in 2009, Steve worked in cases of complex litigation, focusing on class actions, antitrust and intellectual property.

Steve also earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Penn State Medical College in Hershey in 2000. That background aids Steve in his highly technical intellectual property cases after he took classes in genetics, biochemistry, physiology, cell biology and advanced neurological sciences.
