Bill has built a distinguished practice during his 50 years as a white collar criminal defense attorney. As a member of the Saxton & Stump Investigations and Criminal Defense Group, Bill defends companies and individuals in federal and state criminal and regulatory investigations and complex and protracted criminal jury trials. He has substantial experience defending criminal class action suits in the antitrust and trade regulation area that often follow or proceed alongside criminal antitrust investigations.

He has a long history of successful decisions for his clients in both trials and avoiding prosecution altogether. He’s tried more than 100 criminal and civil cases in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and other states. He is also a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group.

Bill first worked for the federal government as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice in its Antitrust Division as well as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, serving as lead trial attorney in numerous high-profile cases. He used that experience and knowledge on the government side to move into private practice working to defend clients in criminal antitrust investigations, as well as the defense of an antitrust class action suit against major chemical companies.
