James W. Saxton Presents at 5th Annual Update in Gastroenterology and Hepatology Conference at MUSC
Lancaster County, PA, September 24, 2018 –James W. Saxton, CEO, was an invited speaker at the 5th Annual Update in Gastroenterology and Hepatology held on September 22, 2018 at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
During his presentation, Keeping Ahead and Out of Trouble, Mr. Saxton provided constructive measures for gastroenterologists to reduce their liability exposure, and at the same time, enhance their economics. Mr. Saxton explained how incorporating a five-star service culture is something every practice can do. He provided examples of how to engage patients during their visit though the use of GI-specific informed consent forms and at-risk letters. Finally, he discussed how important effective communication becomes after an adverse event.
The Update in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, chaired by Peter Cotton, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Digestive Disease Center, MUSC, provided practicing clinicians with updates on the investigation and management of a broad spectrum of digestive and liver diseases.
Mr. Saxton has sustained an active health law and health care litigation practice for more than 30 years. He oversees cases throughout Pennsylvania in state and federal court, and over his career, has tried many cases to verdict. He advises clients on litigation and risk management issues nationally, helps to create risk management platforms, and innovates on new trial techniques. Mr. Saxton has contributed to three hundred articles and books and is an invited speaker to nationally prominent health care organizations on health law and risk management issues. He has been recognized by his peer as a Best Lawyer, Lawyer of Distinction, Super Lawyers and Select Lawyers. Mr. Saxton is an active member of many professional associations, including being chosen as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a prestigious nomination reserved for less than one-half of one percent of the lawyers in the country, Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and Board Member for SE Healthcare Quality Consulting. He believes strongly in giving back to the community, volunteering in leadership roles and lending his expertise to many health care and community nonprofits. He was the recipient of the Excellence in Philanthropy Award presented by the Lancaster General Health Foundation’s Board of Trustees and was awarded Philanthropist of the Year by The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
