Shaun J. Mumford, Esq.


Shaun J. Mumford, Esq. is an experienced attorney concentrating his practice in healthcare litigation matters, including the defense of medical device and medical professional negligence claims. A mechanical engineer by training, he brings a detail oriented focus to each case. He has successfully defended hospitals, health systems, physician practices and medical professionals at both trials and arbitrations throughout Pennsylvania.

Prior to obtaining his law degree, Shaun received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Delaware and thereafter completed his examination to become a certified engineer intern. He later obtained his law degree from Villanova University.

After completing law school, Shaun served a one-year term as law clerk for the Honorable John C. Uhler, who was the President Judge of the York County Court of Common Pleas. Following his clerkship, he gained experience with an insurance defense law firm based in Camp Hill. A significant portion of his practice included the representation of healthcare professionals, hospitals and health systems, but also included automobile, commercial, construction, product liability, municipality, and workers’ compensation.

Obtained a jury verdict for a surgeon accused of negligently causing a pulmonary artery injury and tamponade, requiring a sternotomy, during the placement of a venous access port.

Obtained a jury verdict for gastroenterologists accused of negligently failing to diagnose mesenteric ischemia resulting in bowel infarction and death of a 66-year-old man.

Obtained a jury verdict for a cardiologist accused of negligently failing to initiate heparin for a suspected pulmonary embolism resulting in the death of 37-year-old female patient.
